Growing medical/behavioral music therapy position opening: we are now accepting applications for a music therapist at IU Health Bloomington. This position would serve the behavioral health unit, with growing hours on medical floors serving med/surg patients, neuro, ortho, and others. I have also been working with COVID patients and providing staff support through COVID, and it has been an immense privilege. This position has grown from 10 hours when I began in Oct. 2020, to now being a benefitted position (healthcare, PTO, savings plans, etc.) I work at least 32 hours per week, but 40 hours most weeks, and the opportunity to expand medical floor hours is there. You would be working as part of a very supportive and experienced recreation therapy team, with respect and recognition of the role of an MT-BC. We purchased some instruments with a grant last year, and the manager for this position is highly supportive, creative, and present/responsive. Opportunities for continuing education assistance have been available while I have worked at the hospital. We also just moved into the BRAND NEW Regional Academic Health Center – Google new IU Health Bloomington if you want to see – it’s gorgeous! Bloomington is a creative, college town, and a great central location – 1 hour from Indianapolis, 2 hours from Louisville, Cincinnati, and 4 hours from Chicago and Nashville! If you love the creative arts of all types, its a great place to live, and if you like hiking/the outdoors, southern central Indiana has lots of beautiful places to see! I am only leaving this position as my family and I have received an offer with my husband’s work to get incredible benefits and an opportunity to travel overseas, closer to family we’ve been away from for a long time, otherwise this is a job I know I would have stayed at for years. I am proud of the program I have been building and I really want to see someone come in who is ready to continue serving our patients and who wants to continue growing the program so that more patients can receive services!
