Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary
This position will start in January 2023. The ideal candidate will hold a Music Therapy Board Certification with a year of experience in an acute medical setting, and experience in NICU. It would also be preferred if the candidate were bilingual in English/Spanish.

The music therapist at Eskenazi Health will provide evidence-based music therapy interventions to support individual patient and family needs, as well as provide selected group and public programming to provide education and experience with music therapy. The music therapist will also oversee any students seeking to complete clinical hours in music therapy at Eskenazi Health.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or higher
Completion of an approved music therapy program
Holds and maintains MT-BC licensure
Continuing education to maintain certification
Preferred prior experience as a music therapist

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Provide evidence-based music therapy interventions
Coordinates operations of music therapy program
Delivers music therapy to patients, families, and staff
Responds to music therapy referrals for appropriate one-on-one or group interactions
Monitors patients’ responses to music therapy and provides appropriate music therapy interventions according to patients’ needs, values, and desires.
Coordinates and collaborates with patient care team to provide sound and ethical care to individuals and groups
Ensures a safe environment for patients and patient’s families by adhering to hospital safety protocol
Provides education to clinical staff regarding music therapy and the effects on patient recovery and well-being
Maintains any records necessary for the evaluation of service and ensures that music therapy documentation/records are clear, accurate, and comply with legal requirements
Manages and reports data to direct supervisor, Music Committee, and Eskenazi administration as requested/required.
Informs and facilitates patient participation in other hospital music events
