Valparaiso University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Music (https://www.valpo.edu/music/) in the area of Music Therapy. Valparaiso University (“Valpo”), a community of learning grounded in the Lutheran tradition of scholarship, freedom, and faith, prepares students to lead and serve both church and society. Located one hour southeast of Chicago on a 310-acre campus, Valpo is a comprehensive university with an enrollment of over 3,500 undergraduate and graduate students. Valpo is consistently recognized as one of the best private universities in the Midwest and is located in Valparaiso, Indiana, a county seat of 30,000 residents with high-quality schools and an active social community.

The successful candidate will teach 3-4 courses in music therapy each semester, administer the undergraduate degree program in music therapy, advise students in the program, maintain accurate and timely reporting to AMTA and NASM, and oversee the clinical training program including internship experiences. This is a one-year, full-time visiting appointment.

Qualifications
The candidate should hold a Masters in Music Therapy or Ph.D. in Music Therapy/Doctoral Studies in Music Therapy as well as board certification with the Certification Board for Music Therapists. The candidate should have at least three years of full-time clinical experience in music therapy or its equivalent in part-time work and pursue continuing education relevant to teaching responsibilities The successful candidate should possess the following characteristics: mastery of all professional-level and applicable advanced competencies in music therapy; effectiveness as a music therapy clinician in at least one area of practice; the ability to teach and clinically supervise undergraduate students; and the ability to organize and administer an undergraduate music therapy program.
