With the Proposed Changes to the CIH and FSW waivers, there would be a limitation and maximum about of hours one can receive for music therapy.

Currently, Music Therapy is billed for a year and is determined by how long and how often one receives music therapy. This can change for a variety of reasons.
– Group Music Therapy Services
– The length of a session (30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour, 1.25 hours, etc)
– If they benefit from receiving the service more than once a week

These changes would set the limit to 6 hours of music therapy a month. In AIMT’s public comment, we have asked for clarification on if we would have year long budgets or if this would change to monthly billing cycles.

There are a variety of reasons one could need more than 6 hours a month, and these changes are going to make an impact on the way music therapy could be beneficial.

If you want to express your opinions on this change, DDRS is currently taking public comment prior to August 8th at DDRSwaivernoticecomment@fssa.IN.gov.
